Six Barcelona players, including England international Marcus Rashford, are yet to be registered for the upcoming LaLiga season due to ongoing financial constraints at the Catalan club, according to a report by SPORT.

Rashford, who joined Barcelona this summer on a season-long loan from Manchester United, with an option to buy for €30 million, is among those awaiting league approval for registration. The delay has raised concerns as the season opener approaches, although club president Joan Laporta remains optimistic.

“It’s progressing well,” Laporta told ESPN. “We’re doing our job and we’re confident that we’ll be able to register everyone.”

Barcelona has faced similar hurdles in the past. Last season, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor were granted temporary licences, only to have them revoked by LaLiga during the January window due to financial non-compliance.

Despite the current setback, new head coach Hansi Flick has wasted no time involving Rashford in pre-season activities. The England forward made his unofficial debut on July 27 in a 3-1 win over Vissel Kobe. In another match against Daegu, Rashford came off the bench for Robert Lewandowski at halftime and found the net in the 65th minute, contributing to a 5-0 win.

“He can play at number 9 or number 11,” Flick told AS after the match. “We changed it because we had to be careful with Ferrán. We wanted to see how he adapted to the position.”

As the countdown to LaLiga’s opening weekend continues, all eyes are on Barcelona’s front office to resolve the financial red tape threatening to sideline key signings.
