Veteran Nollywood actress, Bimbo Akintola, has opened up about her single status, revealing that she has not yet found the right person to spend her life with.
In an interview with Pulse Nigeria, the 52-year-old screen star clarified that her singleness is not by choice, stressing that marriage remains important to her, though she will only commit if she is certain about the relationship’s longevity.
“I don’t have children, unfortunately. Marriage is important. It’s something you do in the house of God you go to church, call everyone that loves you, and say those vows that you will cherish for the rest of your life. I haven’t found the person I would do the rest of my life with. I did find someone once, but he died. And I haven’t found anyone since then,” she said.
Akintola, whose mother hails from Edo State and father from Oyo State, emphasised that honesty and truth are central to her decision-making. “I can’t lie, I don’t know how to live a lie. I want everything to be truthful to myself and to God. I wouldn’t marry someone I couldn’t see myself staying with forever,” she explained.
The actress also said she is open to marrying at any age, even at 78, provided she meets the right person. She noted that while marriage does not define a woman’s worth, it becomes increasingly valuable in later years when companionship helps to combat loneliness.
“Marriage is not the be-all and end-all of life, but as you get older and children move on, you need someone by your side,” she said.
Akintola remains one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, with a career spanning decades, and says she is focused on living authentically while holding onto the hope of finding lasting companionship.
