The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, has called on Nigerians to acknowledge the progress made in tackling insecurity across the country, stressing that no nation is completely free of security challenges.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme on Thursday, General Musa said the Nigerian Armed Forces have recorded significant successes in their operations against terrorist groups and other criminal elements.
He pointed to recent breakthroughs, including the arrest of the son of Boko Haram’s founder and key commanders of the Ansaru sect, as evidence of the military’s determination to dismantle terrorist networks.
“No country in the world is without security issues,” Musa said. “What matters is the resolve to confront them and the results being achieved. Nigerians should be grateful for the progress we are making in restoring peace and stability.”
The defence chief further explained that ongoing military operations have degraded the capabilities of insurgent groups, making it difficult for them to carry out large-scale attacks as seen in previous years.
While acknowledging that challenges remain, Musa assured that the Armed Forces remain committed to ensuring the safety of citizens and the protection of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
