Nigerian businessman and chairman of the Ibru Organisation, Olorogun Oskar Ibru, has died at the age of 67.
Family sources confirmed his passing to Arise News on Wednesday after a brief illness but declined to provide further details. Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced soon.
Oskar Ibru’s death comes less than a decade after the passing of his father and founder of the Ibru dynasty, Olorogun Michael Ibru, who died in 2016.
Reacting to the news, veteran journalist and publisher of Ovation International, Dele Momodu, described Ibru as “an extremely friendly gentleman and a socialite par excellence.” In a post on Instagram, he added that Ibru was “one of Nigeria’s most recognisable businessmen” and would be remembered with deep affection by family, friends, and associates.
As a key figure in Nigeria’s corporate world, Oskar Ibru was instrumental in sustaining and expanding the conglomerate built by his late father, whose business empire spanned shipping, oil and gas, real estate, and commerce.
