The Federal Government has announced the official theme for Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary as “Nigeria @ 65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation.”
The theme was disclosed on Wednesday in a statement by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). According to the statement, the theme highlights the importance of unity, collaboration, and patriotism among government institutions, the private sector, civil society, and citizens in building a peaceful and prosperous nation.
“Since achieving independence on October 1, 1960, the nation has successfully navigated difficulties and achieved notable advancements in diverse economic sectors. This necessitates collective efforts to solidify these gains and pursue loftier objectives, aiming to forge a powerful nation for all citizens,” the statement read in part.
The SGF’s office also emphasized that all government programmes and activities must align with the theme to ensure its message resonates across national development efforts, particularly within the framework of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
As part of the anniversary activities, a Juma’at Prayer is scheduled for Friday, September 26, at 1 p.m., followed by an Inter-Denominational Church Service on Sunday, September 28, at 10 a.m. A World Press Conference will also hold on Monday, September 29, at 10 a.m.
Nigeria will officially mark its 65th Independence Anniversary on October 1, 2025.
