Air Peace will begin operating flights to London Heathrow from October 26, 2025, after securing highly sought-after landing slots. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, confirmed the development, noting that the move will intensify competition on the Lagos–London route and likely drive down ticket prices for Nigerian travelers.
Heathrow’s extensive global connections, Keyamo explained, will enable Nigerian passengers to enjoy smoother onward journeys to destinations such as the United States and Europe without travel document complications. The minister also highlighted the airline’s growing interline agreements with foreign carriers, which will further improve connectivity for travelers.
In a related announcement, Keyamo revealed that Nigeria has secured its first dry-lease aircraft deal in almost two decades. The arrangement is expected to reduce leasing costs for domestic airlines, potentially leading to more affordable fares across the board.
Industry observers say these developments reflect the government’s renewed push to strengthen local airline competitiveness, expand Nigeria’s presence in key international markets, and enhance passenger convenience.
