The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) has disclosed that ongoing cybercrime cases involving popular Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo, singer Naira Marley, show promoter Sam Larry, actress Tonto Dikeh, and social media personality VeryDarkMan are being delayed due to Ms. Ojo’s refusal to appear in court or submit a formal statement.

In an interview with Vanguard, the NPF-NCCC confirmed that the actress’s non-cooperation is hindering progress in two separate cyberstalking and cyberbullying cases currently before the courts.

The first case involves a petition by Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley) and Balogun Olamilekan Eletu (Sam Larry), who accused Iyabo Ojo of making unsubstantiated claims on social media linking them to the death of the late singer Mohbad. The police stated that Ojo was invited for questioning, granted administrative bail, and the matter was formally charged in accordance with the Cybercrimes Act, 2024 (as amended).

In a related case, Iyabo Ojo and fellow actress Tonto Dikeh filed a petition against Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, alleging cyberbullying and online harassment. That case has also been charged to court under Charge No: FHC/ABJ/CR/149/2024.

“Despite several formal invitations, Ms. Ojo has failed to appear in court as a prosecution witness or provide a formal statement as required,” the NPF-NCCC said.

The Centre emphasized its commitment to due process and impartial investigations and urged all parties to cooperate with the ongoing legal proceedings.

It added, “The NPF-NCCC remains dedicated to ensuring Nigeria’s digital space is governed by truth, accountability, and the rule of law.”
