The Presidency has dismissed claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is neglecting the northern region, insisting that the North remains “extremely comfortable” with his approach to governance.

Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, made the remark during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday.

His comments came in response to a statement by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, who alleged that Tinubu’s administration was cutting the North off from federal projects and warned that the region could work against the president’s re-election in 2027.

Bwala rejected the allegations, stating that President Tinubu is addressing both immediate and long-term challenges facing the region.

“Northern Nigeria is extremely comfortable with the governance approach of Mr President. Do you know why? He is solving the problems that are in the long term and the problems in the moment. You can see conscious efforts by the president through various policies,” he said.

The presidential aide also noted that the administration’s economic policies were already producing positive results, while urging Nigerians to distinguish between genuine public concerns and what he described as “agendas cooked by opposition politicians.”

Bwala’s remarks underscore the Presidency’s effort to reassure the northern political base amid heightened political rhetoric ahead of the 2027 general elections.
